the weekend getaway.

weekend
Because it’s summer and summer is fun.
Tones of festivals and gatherings every weekend, many vibrant moments and many adventures to go.
But most of all, weekends are unpredictable, so you’ll better have your survival plan on and some useful stuff at hand. Like a jacket in your weekender bag or maybe even a bathing-suit.
Generally, when thinking about what you need for a fun weekend session, think efficiency-suported-by-design. *wink*
What I mean by this is that successful weekend getaways looks are both creative and easy to wear, so I recommend the sacred science of layering. Yes, layering products with different lengths, like a long fringed T with a short leather jacket, or with a longer sweater followed by a short jacket and a scarf (in case you’re going to a festival in the forest 🙂 Otherwise, layer the other way around: a cute-naughty piece of sassy lingerie, timidly showing off your right shoulder and an oversized T.
Boots are my favourite, in all shapes and sizes, so for me, boots are always the answer. If you feel a little more sporty, go for sneakers. U cannot fail with that! Also, a bigger bag than you’re city clutch would be just fine. Don’t exaggerate, though. You do not need to carry half of your wardrobe with you all the time, you’ll feel exhausted more quickly *smile*
Bucket bags are new for me, but it was surely love at first wear. They are so much bigger than they look, very practical and still chic, and already have that fresh vibe and loose feeling. If you are also a fan, you can check out a vintage classic in your store, here.
Enjoy the weekend, darlings, and have stylish fun!

Today, play light and sassy, for some stylish summer scenes featuring retro city chic inspiration and a touch of humour.
Weather u go to work or you take a walk on the wild side, weather you take your kids from school or just lunch out, bring on your full radiance and experiment with fun items. The 70’s are rocking the boat again, so that’s a good starting point to get inspired. Colours, prints, a drop of boho-hippie-chic for the romantic ones, whilst some patterns in bold colours with geometric figures and chunky bracelets will get the attention of the adventurous.

70s copy
This season is all about the bohemian, laid-back and so-chic look of the 70’s, coming to life again.  Floral prints, boho dresses, high-waist flair jeans, oversized glasses, as seen at  Chalayan, platforms and hand-bags. Add some camel suede pieces, as seen at Chloe, mix hippie dresses with a dark denim jacket and combine them with a fringe bag or gladiator sandals and you’ll hit the jackpot! The festival look is inspirational this summer.

Ever felt like getting tired of the crazy colours running around almost every summer ? This is your time to celebrate the monochromatic revolution, that’s so calm, serene and pleasing for the eyes. And to take your style-manifesto one level up, forget about all the other options and invest in white pieces from head to toe. Simple, stylish and elegant, all white will get you anywhere this spring!black and white copy
The classical duet of black and white is still dominant in the chromatics of the spring fashion shows. Whether you go for floral prints, as seen at Carolina Herrera, big bold graphics as in  Balmain or Alexander McQueen shows, or maybe mix florals and stripes as Diane von Furstenberg did with so much grace, you can never go wrong with this combination. If you feel minimalistic, just pick a white shirt and some black cigarette pants, and you’ll still be so in.

Yes, we love them for the dynamic feeling and the amazing way they uncover the body when moving! Fringes are back and are here to stay, so invest in one piece that will make you shine, wether it’s a suede camel bag with retro look, or a voluminous skirt, as seen at Burnello Cucinelli.  If you feel a little more adventurous, choose a statement piece, like those exposed by Costume National or Gareth Pugh. A fringe poncho would also make a good choice, so feel free to be  yourself, while wearing the fringe.

Here is something new to make you think about summer shopping. The gladiator sandals were seen all over the runways this season, and they make a good option for the 70’s look that’s so in right now. Wear them with hippie floral dresses for a boho look, like in the Alberta Ferretti show, combined with a white shirtdress as proposed by Boss,  or in your own eclectic mix. Either way, we have a winner!

jumpsuits
The loose, sweet jumpsuit reminding us of innocent childhood is a fresh item for the season. Let your imagination explore different styling moods and instances – go from oversized sporty jumpsuits to chic, clean versions, as seen in Comme des Garcons show or Elizabeth and James, or try the feminine, elegant interpretations, proposed by Escada or Guy Laroche.

masuline influence copy
The influence of the 90’s is still manifesting strong this summer, so the masculine-inspired suit is still a great choice to expose your style. You have countless shows to get inspiration from, and as many variations on this subject. Weather you go for an oversized masculine vest, as seen at Acne Studios and 3.1 Phillip Lim, smooth and shiny colours and textures for your deux-piece, as seen at Antonio Berardi or you just go for the laid-back Chanel look, where sneakers are a must, the masculine suit is definitely in. A good choice for this summer is to choose a suit with shorts and blazer, and make it sporty, shiny or flower-power.

netting copy
Brand new and so addictive, the netting look is making a statement this season. Transparent skirt and dresses are being covered with symmetrical stripes of material that reminds us of the nets on the sports field, as seen in Francesco Scognamiglio, Custo Barcelona and Balmain. If that’s a little too much, go the Balenciaga way – expose just a small part of your body, and let only some fine nets cover it. You’ll be rockin’!

new jeans copy
Here they are, along with the other retro influences – the new jeans. If you got tired of your old boyfriend jeans, here is something to try out: flair cuts, light edging on dark blue jeans and jackets, high-waist for both long and short pants, even skirts. Yes, it’s all about the 70’s jeans, so here is a good hint for your spring wardrobe. You have countless combinations to play with and you can easily integrate a jeans jacket in many looks of the moment – just see how beautiful it looks with a floral-printed dress, for a boho look, or mixed with a shinny dress and sneakers – the Burberry way.

shines copy
Mostly dominating the Couture scene for this season, the soft shine, wet-look is still one of the most popular choices for many designers. A touch of shimmer is all you need to shine this spring, and if you’re bold enough, you can mix it with sneakers, for a a cool look, as seen at Brunello Cucinelli. Otherwise, Escada makes a great example of how to shine with grace during the day, with the right choice of materials.

sporty
As it’s still a newcomer, the sporty-inspired look is expanding this season. If you haven’t bought a pair of sneakers so far, there is no better time to do so, you will wear them aaall summer-long! We love the laid-back attitude a pair of sneakers adds to every outfit, and, mixed with a deux-piece or floral feminine dress during the day, they are such a cool statement of style and freedom. Also, keep in mind the bomber jacket, it makes a good investment to spice up your style for spring.

Last but definitely not least, the summer to come speaks the seductive, feminine look of transparence. Now is the time to invest in clothing that show some skin, or that barely cover it with a smooth touch of veil. Anne Demeulemeester makes a great statement of to how wear this trend, while Blumarine and Francesco Scognamiglio enchant us with fairy-tale etherical dresses, with amazing floral applications on translucent veils. Either way, while going transparent, don’t forget to invest in some good-quality invisible lingerie 🙂

summer skirts

restyle looks
There is nothing that gets me in the mood for the haute season more than a feminine, playful apparition, developed around a skirt to inspire.
And, to keep things simple, I made a list of items that may be the central pieces in a story. Summer styling story, that is. Here are my top ten choices for this season:
1. The Dark Denim Skirt – because it looks great with a floral oversized shirt and colourful platforms. Could do with suede boots, top and fringe bag also.  True Religion – Jeans Skirt in Ghost Wash, http://www.stylebop.com
2. The Graphic Print Skirt – experiment with shapes and colours and wear a bold, futuristic design to keep boredom away. Style it with oversized shirts or tops, wedges or stilettos. Or else, go with white sneakers and and oversized white loose trench. MSGM Patchwork Print Mini Skirt, http://www.shop.harpersbazaar.com
3. The Sporty White –  because it makes the perfect support for the colour-rebelling mode: all white. Goes along well with white sneakers and white top. Or black and white striped shirt. Choies White Padded Quilting A-Line Skirt, http://www.chioes.com
4. The Maxi Boho Dress – it’s definitely a summer statement, and a great item to style retro hippie outfits. Makes a great match with a denim jacket, preferably in darker tones.
River Island Black Floral Print Maxi Skirt, http://www.riverisland.com
5. The Translucent Apparition – Try this amazing trend this season and drop the inhibitions. Directly proportional to your prejudice level, you will be able to show more or less skin. Don’t be afraid to experiment, keep it cool and loose, and you’ll survive. If you want to play it safe, consider a classic cut for the opaque material. LUCLUC Black Unilateral Split Stretch Lace Long Skirt, http://www.lucluc.com
6. The 70’s Camel Suede Skirt – because it’s iconic and we love it. Go with printed shirts, either geometrical or floral, platform sandals, hand-bag. Denim is also a good match in terms of shirt or jacket, and would go great with gladiator sandals and fringe bag.
Miss Selfridge Suede Popper Skirt, http://www.missselfridge.com
7. The Nude Lace Skirt – this is a versatile piece for summer. Go all nude with a feminine blouse and flat sandals, mix with polo shirt and sneakers for a little fun or put on a blazer and shirt, for a day walk in the city.  Michael Kors Pleated Dance Skirt, http://www.marissacollections.com
8. The High-Waist Floral Skirt – chic and sassy, this skirt goes amazing in special city looks. Wear it with a cropped top or bustier and stilettos. Ted Baker Abaigh Cascading Floral Full Skirt, http://www.harrods.com
9. The Blumarin Leather Skirt – since bluemarin is a colour to go for this summer, and leather also a newcomer for the hot season, why not mix the two of them in a bold outfit? The retro cut makes perfect room for a graphic top and platform. Alexander McQueen Laser Cut Floral Leather Skirt, http://www.alexandermcqueen.com
10. The Gingham Print Dress  –  left it the last as the ‘bride’ of my top ten collection. The gingham print is a trend to develop in the season to come, as seen on the runways, so do get this item if you desire something fresh and so IT for the moment. Dolce & Gabbana Black & White Vichy Print Skirt, http://www.profilefashion.com
